EyeDisc vs Cryopreserved

We get this question all the time.  First and foremost, there are two types of amniotic membranes in Eyecare, cryopreserved and dehydrated, they both are great products. Cryopreserved amniotic membranes are considered a device in the industry. Regardless, it’s a go to option for certain ocular surface situations.  Additionally it’s cryopreserved and hydrated, whereas our EyeDisc are preserved through a dehydration process after being cleaned and sterilized.  Regardless, both products have their place, both function off of a growth factor and cytokine platform and both have had success in treating ocular surface issues. Cryopreserved membranes tend to be significantly more expensive than EyeDisc, and that’s ok because it’s really a different product.
